NASCAR Raceday – Edwards aims for repeat at Michigan

This week's stop on the Sprint Cup Series is the LifeLock 400, which is to be held at Michigan International Speedway. Carl Edwards is the defending champion at this event, and the No.99 driver has an outstanding record at this two-mile track that is considered on the fastest in NASCAR.

Edwards is the favorite at 450, and Michigan has been his playground since he entered NASCAR's top series. He has a win and six top-ten finishes in seven races at Michigan, with an average finish of 7.3, which is the best among active drivers.

Kyle Busch is next at 500, and the No.18 driver will be looking to bounce back from last weekend's disappointment, when he became the first driver to race at three different tracks in a weekend. Busch has been disappointing at Michigan, with only two top-tens in six races and an average finish of 20.7, despite having an average starting position of 9.3, which is second only to Jeff Gordon.

Kasey Kahne is rated at 800, and the No.9 driver has taken over the reins as the hottest driver in NASCAR with three wins in four races (one was the non-points All-Star Race). Kahne also won here in 2006, along with a finishing average of 15.2.

Greg Biffle is tied with Kahne at 800, and the No.16 driver has had to overcome a lot of bad luck while having the dominant car in a few races. Biffle won this event in 2006, and he has a solid finishing average of 13.4 in ten races at Michigan.

Jimmie Johnson rounds out the list of top contenders at 800, and oddly, the two-time champion has never won at Michigan despite a finishing average of 14.8. However, Johnson usually qualifies well with a starting average of 10.0, so you cannot count out the No.48 driver.
